Ahh, they’re so cute !! I really want the one named Turkey [male- orange tabby]. I’ve wanted a cat for a wicked long time now. I will name him Thomas O’Malley, after the alley cat in Disney’s Aristocats and he and I will be bffl.
And speakin’ of Turkey…Haaaaappy Thanksgiving, everyone ! I’m thankful for everything in my life. Especially all the incredible people in it. Love ‘em all. <3

The Thing Is

By Ellen Bass

The thing is…

to love life, to love it even
when you have no stomach for it
and everything you’ve held dear
crumbles like burnt paper in your hands,
your throat filled with the silt of it.
When grief sits with you, its tropical heat
thickening the air, heavy as water
more fit for gills than lungs;
when grief weights you like your own flesh
only more of it, an obesity of grief,
you think, How can a body withstand this?
Then you hold life like a face
between your palms, a plain face,
no charming smile, no violet eyes,
and you say, yes, I will take you
I will love you, again.

You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light. But you knew there would always be the spring, as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen.

So I watched Stand By Me for the first time the other day. Wow, what a great movie ! The boys had such strong chemistry; I was wicked impressed by everyone’s acting, esp River Phoenix’s. The friendship among the boys seemed so real and it got me thinkin’ about me and my friends and how much I appreciate genuine friendship—-more than almost anything in the world.

I rather not admit it…but it’s kinda true…

FTA: Look, for example, at these words of woe from one Facebooker. Referring to his lover, he says, “‘I have enough confidence in her to know my partner is faithful, yet I can’t help but second-guess myself when someone posts on her wall…It can contribute to feelings of you not really ‘knowing’ your partner.”

This is silly. Of course facebook will enable you to see who’s posting on your bf/gf’s wall, but that doesn’t automatically lead to jealousy. If you’re in a commited, trusting relationship, facebook cannot possibly negatively effect it. If you are seriously suspicious about anything on your partner’s wall, then you should talk to them about it. It’s as simple as that. In my opinion, people who let facebook threaten their relationships clearly did not have a strong enough relationship in the first place.

FTA: “Heightened jealousy leads to increased surveillance of a partner’s Facebook page. Persistent surveillance results in further exposure to jealousy-provoking information.”

The problem therefore lies in lack of communication; facebook just happens brings it out. I, for one, would never let something as innocent as a fb post destroy my relationship or change how I feel about my bf. But then again, I have a pretty awesome bf so that’d be hard to do…haha. :)
